Dr. McManaman - Indirect Bonding

OrthoCAD iQ is a revolutionary new system that utilizes advanced computer guidance technology to assist Dr. McManaman in positioning your braces properly on your teeth, ultimately creating an ideal smile for you. With OrthoCAD iQ’s increased level of precision, you’ll get ideal results much faster than you would with traditional methods. Traditional application of braces involved a long appointment, placing the braces on the teeth one at a time, directly in the mouth. The old method of placing braces directly on the teeth, one at a time, while the patient is in the dental chair is prone to inaccuracy and errors due to the inability to directly view the teeth properly and patient movement. Dr. McManaman is one of only two Orthodontist’s in Atlantic Canada utilizing this new technology for precise and accurate positioning of braces.

How does OrthoCAD iQ work?

Once you have decided to proceed with orthodontic treatment, an appointment is arranged to take very accurate impressions of your teeth. The impressions are then scanned and a 3-Dimensional computer generated representation of your teeth is produced. The virtual 3D model of your teeth, allows Dr. McManaman to examine your teeth from every angle imaginable, for precision positioning of your braces. Dr. McManaman then uses computer software to ‘virtually’ position your braces on your 3D tooth model.

Dr. McManaman can verify the accurate positioning of your braces, because the software is used to simulate the tooth movement that will occur throughout treatment and he can actually view your finished smile before the braces are ever placed in your mouth! Once Dr. McManaman confirms he is satisfied with the final smile, the computer technology produces a clear transfer tray from your 3D tooth model, with all your braces attached.

At your second appointment, our dental hygienist will polish the surface of your teeth and apply a clear coat of adhesive. Next, the upper and lower computer fabricated trays containing all your braces are positioned over your teeth for about three minutes. The soft/flexible trays are peeled away and all your braces are now on! Using the OrthoCAD iQ software, we will also show you how your teeth are going to move during treatment and you will be able to view the design of your final new smile at your very first appointment! We are very proud to be only one of a few Orthodontic offices in Canada providing this advanced technology to our patients.

What does treatment with the OrthoCAD iQ system mean to you?

With the iQ system, the top and bottom braces are placed as a single unit, rather than tooth-by-tooth, resulting in a much shorter and pleasant appointment the day you receive your braces. The treatment results generated by iQ enable exceptional accuracy when positioning braces, because Dr. McManaman is able to fine tune bracket placement using computer aided software with unmatched precision. Because of increased accuracy, patient cases using iQ progress much faster than usual, meaning less time in braces and patients also have to undergo fewer adjustment appointments. This means less disruption to your everyday life.
